American Staffordshire Terrier

  • General Impression

The American Staffordshire Terrier is confident, good-natured and smart.  The Stafford has great strength for his size, a well put-together dog, muscular, but agile and graceful, keenly alive to his surroundings. He should be stocky, not long-legged or racy in outline. His courage is proverbial. Must socialize early to curb aggressive tendencies.

Males 17-19 inches  Females 16-18 inches  57-67 pounds

Prone to heart murmurs, thyroid problems and skin allergies, hip dysplasia, cataracts and congenital heart disease.  Ataxia which is a serious health problem in this breed.

About 9-15 years
