The Akbash dog, is native to western Turkey and was primarily used as a livestock guard dog.

Appearance

The Akbash dogs are largest of the British Terriers and when grown can weigh 75-140 lbs and have a height of 27-34 inches.

Temperament                                                                                                                                                       

Akbash dogs personality tends to be calm and aware. The breed is not shy nor aggressive but can be suspicious of strangers. The dog will need larger areas to run and do not do well in a pen or small yard. The breed can do well with other pets and small animals.

Health                                                                                                                                                                                  The median lifespan is 10-11.5 years which is similar to other breeds of their size with no major health concerns.
